Xiaomi Redmi 13 review

Hello my friend! Let’s take a look at this beautiful Xiaomi Redmi 13 phone. To be honest, when I saw it for the first time, I was reminded of Redmi 12. Do you know why? Because its design is very similar to it, but it has been given a series of changes that made it look more attractive.

The first thing that caught my eye was the body. It’s got this smooth, matte finish with a flat frame that’s really easy on the eyes. It’s pretty interesting that, unlike the previous model, they’ve made the cameras bigger this time around and added some new colors. Now you can choose between black, gold, light blue, and pink. If you ask me, adding pink and swapping out silver for gold was a smart move. It really breaks up that same-old, same-old vibe.

Body Quality Check

Now, let me tell you about the build quality. I know when we’re talking about budget phones, the first thing that pops into your head is, “Oh man, this thing’s gonna get scratched up in no time.” But fortunately, that’s not an issue here. Xiaomi used some really tough plastic for the frame, and the back is made of glass that’s supposed to be scratch-resistant.

By the way, it measures exactly the same as the previous model: 168.6 × 76.3 × 8.3 mm. It weighs about 205 grams, which is one heavier than the Redmi 12. But well, it’s still good. The only point you should pay attention to is that since its body is glass and its frame is also board, it may be a little slippery. So it is better to get a good frame and glass for it.
Another cool thing is that it doesn’t take many fingerprints on the back of the phone. But if you are very sensitive about this issue, I suggest you choose lighter colors.

Screen

Now, let’s talk about the screen. They’ve slapped some Gorilla Glass on there to protect it from scratches. We don’t know exactly which version it is, but hey, we’re not expecting top-of-the-line stuff here, right? The selfie camera is just a tiny drop at the top of the screen.

The overall design of the phone is kinda iPhone-ish. It’s got a flat frame with the volume and power buttons on the right side. On the left, you’ve got the spot for the memory card and SIM card.

Its screen is exactly the same as we saw in Redmi 12. A 6.79-inch IPS LCD display that displays images with a resolution of 1080 x 2460 pixels. It also has a 90 Hz refresh rate, which is good for watching videos and even playing games.

But well, there is no mention of those bad technologies like Dolby Vision or HDR. That means, if you want to watch videos made with these standards, you won’t experience that wonderful quality.

What do you think? With these features, do you reckon the Redmi 13 could be a good pick? Or are you looking for something a bit different?

Yeah, buddy, let’s dive deeper into the screen and cameras on the Redmi 13.

See, Xiaomi says the brightness of this display is 550 nits. Well, to be honest, that number isn’t exactly surprising. What does that mean? This means that if you try to use your phone under the sun, you might run into some trouble. But hey, the 90Hz refresh rate and 1080P resolution are pretty sweet. The bezels are a little on the thick side, which you won’t like, but nonetheless will work if you just want to watch movies or surf the web.

To sum it up, I think the Redmi 13 is a good-looking, comfortable phone that’s well-built for its price. What do you think? Do you reckon it’s worth buying?

Alright man, let’s dive into the Redmi 13’s camera setup and other features.

Camera

The design’s pretty much a carbon copy of the Redmi 12. You’ve got two big vertical circles on a rectangular island housing the main and macro cameras. Here’s a funny twist – the spot that used to be for the depth sensor? They’ve turned that into the LED flash now. The selfie camera’s still rocking that same old punch-hole design, which, let’s face it, is par for the course with budget phones.

Durability

Look, this phone has the IP53 standard. what does it mean? It means that it is resistant to dust and if it is splashed with water, nothing will happen. But well, if you put it in water, you will lose badly! So take care of it.
Indeed, the fingerprint sensor is placed on the power button, which you can use very easily. Its speed and accuracy are not bad. With Android 14 as the installation method, you can feel at ease about its security.

Long story short, with its plastic/glass design and those fresh new colors, I’d say it passes the design test. If you’ve had a Xiaomi before, you’ll probably crack a smile when you see it – it’s like running into an old friend.

Now, permit’s communicate juice. It’s packing a 5030mAh battery that’ll fully fee in approximately 1 hour and 17 mins with the 33W charger. Not mind-blowing, but not too shabby either. If you’re now not glued in your phone, it’s going to last you a full day. But if you’re one of those folks who is usually on their telephone, you might want to give it a lift halfway thru the day.

Now, the cameras… they’ve made some interesting changes here. They’ve bumped up the main camera from 50MP to a whopping 108MP! Pretty cool, right? But here’s the catch – they’ve ditched the ultrawide camera, which is kind of a bummer. Instead, they’ve thrown in a 2MP macro camera. The selfie camera’s also gotten an upgrade from 8MP to 13MP.

Let me break down the photo quality for you. That 108MP main camera? It’s a beast in daylight. The pics are packed with detail, and the colors look super natural. It’s especially good at capturing trees and stuff like that. Unlike the older model, this camera’s really good at picking up on details. No more pics looking like watercolor paintings!

What do you think? Are these changes enough to make you want to grab a Redmi 13? Or do you think they messed up by getting rid of that ultrawide camera?

Yeah buddy, let’s take an even closer look at this Redmi 13.

Selfie Camera

To be honest, even though they raised the resolution, it didn’t seem to be very successful. It shows the details of the face well, but the color of the skin is the same. It is as if it is not normal. But well, it’s not bad for filming. Both cameras can shoot at 1080p and 30 frames per second, which is not bad.

Software

Now, let’s talk about the brains of this operation! The Redmi 13 is running on a Mediatek Helio G91 Ultra processor. It’s got 8 cores and a Mali-G52 MC2 graphics processor. Xiaomi’s ditched the 2GB and 4GB RAM options this time around, starting at 6GB. You can choose between 6/128, 8/128, and 8/256 models. Plus, you can add up to 1TB of extra storage!

But let me level with you. This processor, while it’s an step up from the last model, still seems to struggle with some tasks. What does that mean? Well, if you’re just scrolling through Instagram or playing a light game like Call of Duty Mobile, you’re golden. But if you try to fire up some heavier games, you might run into some lag and overheating issues.

So if you’re one of those mobile gaming fanatics who wants a phone that can handle all sorts of games, you might want to keep looking.

What do you think? With these specs, who do you reckon the Redmi 13 is best suited for? Or do you think Xiaomi should’ve put more muscle into the processor?

Spread the love
